Horvat, Oto, hrvatski strojarski inženjer (Virovitica, 6. III. 1909. - Zagreb, 7. XII. 1978.). Diplomirao je na Strojarskom odjelu Tehničkoga fakulteta u Zagrebu 1932. Među ostalim, radio je u više tvornica i institucija u Zagrebu, Velikom Bečkereku (danas Zrenjanin), Osijeku, Novom Sadu, te bio ravnatelj Tehničke škole u Zagrebu. Napisao je djela Mehanička tehnologija materijala za gradnju strojeva,1-3 (I-IV, 1942-65) i Mala mehanička tehnologija (I-VII, 1949-65), koja su činila osnovu naobrazbe naraštajima stručnjaka toga područja.
Pored velikog doprinosa na industrijalizaciji i pedagoškom planu Horvat je prvi počeo uvoditi hrvatsku terminologiju u strojarskoj struci, koju je promovirao u svojim udžbenicima i priručnicima.

Dakle taj je čovjek pored pisanja opsežnih stručnih knjiga, redovnog odgovornog posla i predavanja u svojoj 36 godini počeo raditi svoje
modele željeznice i to u najteža poratna vremena (1949-50)
Ovih dana je kod mene kolekcija Otte Horvata o kojoj je bilo već dosta govora.
Bila je izložena na zadnjim susretima Kžmz-a u Zagrebu a ja ću je vratiti u Viroviticu ove subote.
Ovako sam mogao na miru sve slikati i zaviriti u detalje izrade. Uz malo obnove puknutih žica lokomotive bi mogle opet provozati, jedino treba
napraviti i odgovarajući transformator. Ja sam ih probao pokrenuti sa 16 v Maerklinovog izmjeničnog trafa pa su malo oživjele no očito je da im treba
viši napon, pretpostavljam od 24 pa do 40 volti.

Kotači su općenito na svim modelima dosta oštećeni uslijed korozije, legure od kojih su rađeni vjerojatno nisu bile baš najčišće.

Gotovo sve je rađeno limom od konzervi, jedino su motorni blokovi napravljeni od nešto debljeg lima

Malo sam vagao lokomotive, električna je teška 2044 grama, diesel 2155 a parna (bez tendera) 2650 grama!
Sad se vlasnik treba odlučiti što će i kako dalje!
Ako se ostavi u ovakvom (jadnom) stanju propadat će i dalje, korozija će nesmiljeno pojesti sve.
Kao prvo bi sve trebalo rastaviti (koliko se može) dobro očistiti i nanesti primer za obojene metale te obojiti.
Motorima bi trebalo zamijeniti dotrajale žice (statore nebi dirao), sa kotačima je problem što su neki dosta oštećeni pa bi ih možda zapunio
tekućim metalom (lijepilom) i nakon brušenja eventualno brunirao?
