Ireland's first luxury overnight train is finally ready to make its long-awaited debut. The Belmond Grand Hibernian will offer two-, four- and six-night excursions around the country for up to 40 passengers at a time.
Belmond, which also runs three other luxury lines in the United Kingdom along with the Venice-Simplon Orient Express and lines in Asia and Peru, will send out the Grand Hibernian train for its maiden run on Aug. 31, 2016.
The line will offer two-night "Realm of Giants" trip to Northern Ireland, a four-night "Legends and Loughs" excursion through southern Ireland or a six-night combination journey dubbed the "Grand Tour of Ireland."
The train is made up of 10 ex-Irish Rail carriages that have been transformed into high-end accommodations. There are en-suite cabins, interconnecting suites for families, two restaurant cars and an observation carriage.
